I program and host the screening-and-discusion series Art & Craft at Museum of the Moving Image. Recent guests included composer Carter Burwell, production designers Patrizia von Brandenstein and Adam Stockhausen, director Celine Song and editor Keith Fraase, documentary legend Frederick Wiseman, and writer-director Rebecca Miller.

I program and host the Emelin Theatre Film Club, in Westchester. New season started on April 3 with a screening of Ken Loach’s The Old Oak.

I programmed the Long Island Jewish Film Festival at my old stomping grounds, the Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington. Six terrific films. May 3-7.

Coming soon: I’ll be resuming the series Songs of the Unsung at the Film-maker’s Cooperative; rarely-screened gems from the Co-op shelves. Past programs included Loose Ends, Loose Corner and More with work by Chick Strand, Marie Menken, Storm de Hirsch, and Anita Thacher, and Joyce Wieland’s La Raison Avant La Passion and Rat Life and Diet in North America

Carter Burwell on Fargo, Museum of the Moving Image, Sunday, April 14, 5:00 p.m. I will be talking with the great composer Carter Burwell, following a screening of Fargo, as part of the MoMI series Art & Craft.

I was very pleased to co-program (with the brilliant curator Edo Choi) the experimental film program Illuminations: Elsewhere/Here at Museum of the Moving Image, for First Look. (There were two great write-ups, by the excellent critics/writers Hannah Bonner and Michael Sicinski)

Being Human: The Films of Roy Andersson, a comprehensive retrospective at Museum of the Moving Image

A fun little series: John Guare and the Movies at the Quad Cinema: three excellent films written by the playwright, and the Lubitsch film he loves

The film series Jeanne Dielman and its Roots explores the inspirations for Chantal Akerman that led to her creating the Sight & Sound pick as the #1 film of all time
